Send a copyright notice

This form sends a notification under section 512(c)(3) of the US Copyright Act to our designated agent. You can also write to copyright@focalshift.ai — the form exists because it asks for everything the statute requires, so nothing has to be chased.

Our full copyright policy, including how to send a counter-notice, is at focalshift.ai/copyright-dmca.

Before you send this: a notification under section 512 is a sworn document. Knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing can make you liable for damages and legal costs under section 512(f). Fair use — criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship and research — is use authorised by law, and you are required to consider in good faith whether it applies before you send a notice.

(ii)

The work you own

Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or, if multiple works at a single site are covered by a single notification, a representative list of such works at that site.

If one notice covers several works on the same page, a representative list is enough — list them here.

(iii)

Where the material is on our service

Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of infringing activity and that is to be removed or access to which is to be disabled, and information reasonably sufficient to permit us to locate the material — in practice, a URL on a FocalShift service.

A link to the specific item, not to a profile, a feed or a search result — that is what lets us find exactly the thing you are complaining about. Links on domains we do not operate cannot be acted on here, and the page will say so.

(iv)

How we can reach you

Information reasonably sufficient to permit us to contact you: an address, a telephone number and, if available, an electronic mail address.

If the material is held and the member sends a counter-notice, section 512(g) requires us to pass your name and contact details on to them. Nothing is passed on before that.

(v) & (vi)

The two statements the statute requires

These are the statutory words. Both must be true, and you are swearing to the second one under penalty of perjury.

I have a good-faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
The information in this notification is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, I am authorised to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
I am not the owner myself; I am authorised to act on the owner’s behalf. Name the owner in the description above.
(i)

Your signature

A physical or electronic signature of a person authorised to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.

I intend the name I typed above to be my signature on this notification.

Exhibits and attachments cannot be added here yet. If you have documents, say so in the description and we will ask you for them.

We will email a receipt with a case number to the address above. Our designated agent is the Copyright Agent, FocalShift Inc., registered with the US Copyright Office under DMCA-1080740; the full details are on our copyright policy page.
